Highly Recommended! A 160F thermostat will not hurt driveablity, your heater performance in winter, nor will or should it affect gas mileage. It will however give more room for a little more aggressive tune. It will also help prevent the engine from knocking. Typically the difference in temperature amounts to around 5 rwhp.
